This two-hour workshop will cover the benefits of belly dance with relation to pre-conception, pregnancy and post partum recovery. This class is appropriate for mamas of all ages, as those who are curious about how belly dance relates to women’s wellness. We will spend much of the class dancing, so wear comfortable clothes similar to a yoga class. Must pre-register by April 2nd.

Nurtured Pregnancy Groups meet 2 times per month and builds community between women and families while and giving mothers the information they need during their pregnancy to give their babies an optimal start in life. The Groups are led by Misty McBride, Certified Professional Midwife and Rachel Ching, Childbirth and Lactation Educator and Postpartum Doula. They meet Monday nights for 2 hours.

FROM THE STATEWIDE BREASTFEEDING COORDINATOR:
This calendar will be created by photos submitted by YOU! We are looking for photos that demonstrate an authentic, supportive, realistic, positive portrayal of breastfeeding in Nevada. Photography Requirements: ****Please be sure to read all of the requirements prior to submission.*****
1) Photos must be of sufficient quality to be blown up into a calendar sized photo with resolution of at least 1600 x 1200 in *jpg format. 2) Photos MUST be of Nevada moms. 3) Each person may submit up to TWO photos. 4) Photo of breastfeeding/ feeding of expressed milk must have been taken in 2013 or 2014. 5) We gladly accept pictures of breastfeeding in all forms: pumping, use of supplemental nutrition systems, breastfeeding multiples, tandem and toddlers, feeding donor milk (especially if made clear that's what is occurring in the photo). 6) If submitting a professional photo, you must also submit signed consent from photographer for use in calendar. 7) Signed consent form is required by photograph subject and photographer. All photographs received become the property of the Statewide Breastfeeding Program for use in the promotion of breastfeeding or perinatal health. 8) Photos will be selected by voting process. 9) Photos will be accepted until 5PM on Friday, April 11th.

Northern Nevada Breastfeeding Coalition has a Special Opportunity for you! Our mission is to promote breastfeeding awareness in Nevada. The Northern Nevada Breastfeeding Coalition consists of current/former breastfeeding moms, WIC staff, hospital nurses and lactation consultants, and other community members. The Northern Nevada Breastfeeding Coalition will be funding two applicants to attend the Healthy Children’s Center for Breastfeeding’s Lactation Counselor Training course in Reno offered June 23-27. http://www.healthychildren.cc/clc2.htm. This funding will include the exam and the needed text book and Pocket Guide for Lactation Management. Applications are due by April 11th 2014 and should be emailed to firstname.lastname@example.org Applicants will be notified if they have been selected by April 25th, 2014. As a CLC you will have the knowledge to assist moms and babies, and have the training necessary to counsel in many settings including maternity units in hospitals, birth centers and clinics, outpatient lactation clinics, WIC programs, private practice, and many others. The CLC is a member of the health care team who can provide knowledge and counseling about optimal and sub-optimal breastfeeding.
